The CO2RE laser is a versatile Fractional CO2 system that has become the “laser of choice” for deep wrinkles or scars (including acne scars.) In the past, patients would subject themselves to long recovery periods in exchange for the results provided by the CO2 laser.
A new technology was introduced to “fractionate” the CO2 laser beam allowing uninjured islands of skin to remain after treatment. These islands provide more rapid healing of skin in the treated areas. This breakthrough technology provides all the benefits of the treatment of deep skin scars and wrinkles without the prolonged recovery associated with traditional CO2 Lasers.
Treatment
The treatment goals of the Fractional CO2 Laser are to improve skin tone, color, and texture. Treatment should eliminate fine wrinkles and improve the appearance of deep wrinkles. The treatment can be performed under local anesthesia. The treatment for the entire face takes one hour to complete and has little, to no pain associated during and post-treatment period. You will also be provided with post-treatment instructions.
7-10 days is expected for full recovery. The skin will start to look noticeably improved in that time. A one-time treatment is usually sufficient to achieve the goals patients seek.
FAQ
How do I know if CO2 treatments are right for me?
People in their 30’s or older with skin damaged from the sun, age spots, fine lines, discoloration, rough skin, and other skin imperfections are ideal candidates. Anyone seeking younger, more youthful, smooth skin with minimal recovery would benefit from this treatment.
What is the CO2RE procedure like?
You can expect some moderate discomfort during treatment, but the anesthetic applied prior to the procedure typically makes the pain tolerable. For more aggressive treatments, Dr. Mirabile and Dr. Hsu may recommend a subcutaneous anesthetic or oral pain relievers/sedatives during the treatment session. Over-the-counter pain relievers may be taken and often help as well.
Is CO2RE safe?
Yes. Dr. Mirabile and Dr. Hsu will assess if your complete medical and skin history will pose any potential negative reactions prior to treatment.
How long will the results last?
There are a number of variables that will determine how long the expected results will last, including overall health, age, smoking status, and how the skin is cared for after treatment. Staying out of the sun and wearing sunscreen on a regular basis is required.
Are CO2RE treatments covered by insurance?
Insurance companies do not offer reimbursement for these procedures.
